Laura Dern shared her appreciation for her Lonely Planet co-star Liam Hemsworth, revealing how comfortable and safe he made her feel while filming their intimate scenes for the Netflix movie.

The Big Little Lies actress called Liam “literally the safest person I could ever talk through everything in my life with,” including their approach to the film’s sex scenes. In an interview with People published on October 11, Laura explained that by the time they were filming, there was nothing they couldn’t openly discuss. “We could talk about anything and work through it creatively and professionally,” she said. “But we also had a lot of support, with much discussion beforehand.”

At 57, Laura expressed her gratitude for working alongside Liam, 34, and praised the presence of an intimacy coordinator on set, which made the experience even more comfortable. Reflecting on her past experiences, she noted, “As young actors, we’ve had a lot of different kinds of experiences on movie sets.”

Liam echoed the positive working environment, saying he felt “completely immersed” in the filming experience. He shared how shooting in the bustling markets of Marrakesh often felt more like hanging out with Laura than acting in a film. “There were times when we couldn’t even see the camera,” Liam recalled. “It just felt like we were hanging out, and someone happened to be filming it.”

Their bond on set was so strong that both actors are enthusiastic about the possibility of a sequel. Laura playfully suggested, “I’m feeling a sequel for sure,” while Liam added that their characters could “go to Tahiti and become scuba-diving instructors.”

Beyond Lonely Planet, Laura also expressed her eagerness to return as Renata Klein for a potential third season of Big Little Lies. She told E! News in January, “I just know if it’s meant to be, I will be there,” reuniting with co-stars Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, and Zoë Kravitz.
