MLB has issued a two-game suspension and an undisclosed fine to Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Aroldis Chapman for “inappropriate behavior” during Monday’s game against the New York Mets, as announced by the league on Thursday.
Barring an appeal, Chapman will begin serving his suspension on Friday, coinciding with the Pirates’ home game against the Boston Red Sox.
Chapman was ejected by plate umpire Edwin Moscoso in the eighth inning of Monday’s game after allowing a two-run double.
“After the game on Monday, Derek Shelton, the Pirates manager, noted that Chapman appeared to say something that the umpire took issue with,” noted the report.
