Shocking moment five people hanging out of SUV during ‘street takeover’ in Colorado Springs are CRUSHED after car rolls over as horrified onlookers try lifting vehicle up to free trapped victims
Five people were crushed after they hung out of an SUV during a ‘street takeover’ in a Colorado Springs strip mall as the driver preformed donuts.
The incident occurred just after 10:15 pm on Saturday in the parking lot of The Market at Spring Creek in southeast Colorado Springs.
When police arrived on the scene, they found several passengers severely injured. They were taken to a local hospital, and their conditions are unknown at this time.
The driver was identified as, Marisol Wentling, and she did not sustain any serious injuries.
She was arrested for reckless driving and taken to jail on Sunday. She has since been released on bond, according to KKTV.
A video captured by onlooker shows the SUV reversing at a high speed while they hang out of the windows and out of the sunroof.
The car the makes a sharp turn as it slides and flips over.
The two people on the right immediately slam to the ground, seemingly crushed by the full weight of the SUV, while the other three are thrown from the windows.
The SUV then rolls over completely before people race over to help those hanging out of the vehicle.
As bystanders grab those trapped in the car, the video changes to another angle and shows the bottom of the car.
The lights briefly flash on and off as onlookers attempt to flip it, but the man recording says: ‘There’s someone on the other side. Don’t flip it, don’t flip it!’
The car horn then goes off as someone else says: ‘It’s leaking, that s*** leaking.’
‘Lift it, lift it, lift, it,’ another person says.
‘Push up,’ another says.
Someone starts to scream loudly in the background just before the video ends.
There has not been an update on the passengers current conditions.
DailyMail.com contacted the Colorado Springs Police Department but did not receive a response in time for this report.
Police said that the incident remains under investigation, and they have urged anyone with more information to come forward.
Multiple street takeovers across the state drew up to 1,500 cars from nearby states as they rampaged through at least four cities and left one cop injured.
The officer was hospitalized after being assaulted while trying to shut down a takeover in a Milton parking lot that saw police pelted with fireworks.
Police say the group was responsible for other street takeovers in the state, including in Derby and New Haven.
‘Some of the vehicles traveled from New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Vermont for this event,’ Shelton police detective Richard Bango told CT Insider.
