Las Vegas is set for an electrifying showdown as two champions collide in a bid to claim the undisputed super middleweight crown on Saturday night.

Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, seeking to regain his pound-for-pound elite status after a series of lackluster performances, steps back into the ring. Alvarez will defend his undisputed super middleweight championship against Jermell Charlo, the undisputed junior middleweight champion, in the main event of a Showtime pay-per-view.

This historic matchup marks the first time in the four-belt era of boxing that two male undisputed champions meet.

Charlo, fresh from becoming undisputed at 154 pounds, is moving up two weight classes to make his debut at 168 pounds. In May 2022, Charlo secured his undisputed status by defeating Brian Castano, following a draw in their initial encounter. These bouts with Castano represent Charlo’s only fights in a three-year span.

Alvarez claimed the IBF title and achieved undisputed status by defeating Caleb Plant in November 2021. He then ventured into the light heavyweight division, where he suffered an upset loss to Dmitry Bivol. After the Bivol setback, Alvarez successfully defended his undisputed crown twice, but his performances in decision victories over Gennadiy Golovkin and John Ryder raised doubts about whether his skills were on the decline.
