Gujarat Congress leader held for circulating fake images aimed at defaming Ayodhya Ram Temple Priest
Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Police have arrested Congress leader Hitendra Pithadiya for disseminating objectionable images in an attempt to defame Mohit Pandey, recently appointed as the chief priest at Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya, on social media.
Hitendra shared what are described as ‘obscene’ and ‘fake’ photos and videos, accompanied by the caption, “Is this the individual set to become the priest of Ayodhya Ram Temple?” The shared images depict an individual wearing a tilak (religious mark) on the forehead and sandalwood paste, engaging in compromising situations with a woman. Another photo suggests an intimate closeness between the two individuals.
The cybercrime branch registered a complaint against Hitendra Pithiya who is chairmen of SC Department in Gujarat congress. He has been booked for creating and disseminating false posts. The complaint alleges an attempt to hurt religious sentiments and defame individuals. Following the complaint, the cybercrime unit took prompt action, arresting the accused leader. Pithiya has been booked under IPC 469, 509, IPC 295A and IT act.
According to reports, numerous videos featuring the same couple have been discovered on a pornographic website. The video in question involves a Telugu priest, and it is unrelated to Mohit Pandey. Investigations have revealed that the individual seen in the video is not Mohit Pandey.
Who is Mohit Pandey?
Mohit Pandey, a student from Doodheshwar Nath Ved Vidya Peeth, has been appointed as the chief priest at the Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya. From a pool of about 3000 interviews held for priest positions, 20 individuals, including Mohit, have been chosen.
