Jamie Foxx Mourns the Passing of Actor and Close Friend Keith Jefferson: ‘A Heartfelt Loss’
Jamie Foxx, aged 55, expressed his deep sorrow on Thursday as he shared the heartbreaking news of the passing of his dear friend, Keith Jefferson, on Instagram. Foxx’s heartfelt message conveyed the profound pain he felt at the loss.
In his Instagram caption, Foxx wrote a touching tribute to Jefferson: “Keith, you’ve been nothing but absolute grace, your whole life your heart is pure your love is immeasurable you were an amazing soul.” He went on to express the void left by Jefferson’s absence, saying, “We will all miss you dearly. It’s gonna take a long time for this to heal,” and concluded with a heartfelt farewell, “Goodbye, my friend. I love you.”
In another Instagram post, Foxx shared his anguish, writing, “Everything hurts right now having a hard time looking through these pictures reliving the memories of us having a great time going to miss you man gonna miss you.”
Foxx’s bond with Jefferson dated back to their college days, and he reflected on their enduring friendship, saying, “Since we met back in college, you have been an incredible soul. God rest, NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD HAVE TO SEE THE WORDS ABOUT MY FRIEND RIP @keith.jefferson Keith.”
Keith Jefferson, known for his work as an actor, producer, voiceover artist, and acting coach, collaborated with Jamie Foxx as far back as 1998 when he appeared in episodes of “The Jamie Foxx Show.” His notable roles also included Quentin Tarantino’s “Django Unchained” (2012), Foxx’s “Day Shift” (2022), and the recent film “The Burial.”
Jefferson revealed his battle with cancer on Instagram on August 9, prompting Foxx to request prayers for his friend’s healing, saying, “I met Keith in college we have a deep friendship and kinship. I’m asking everybody for prayers up. Asking God to heal his body and mind… devil you a lie. @keith.jefferson continue to fight because you are blessed. I love u.”
In addition to his collaboration with Foxx, Jefferson continued working with Quentin Tarantino, appearing in “The Hateful Eight” (2015) and “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” (2019).
Keith Jefferson had shared a trailer for “The Burial” on his Instagram, expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to work on the film and acknowledging the support of friends like Jamie Foxx and Rodney Mason.
As the news of Jefferson’s passing spread, Jamie Foxx’s daughter, Corinne Foxx, left a heartfelt comment on one of Keith’s posts, saying, “Love you so much Keith.”
